Altru Health System Outreach Therapy teams provides Oakland Park Communities its services for inpatient and outpatient therapy. Being the region's number one source for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and hearing services, and hand therapy, Altru's Outreach Therapy serves rural patients at home or in nursing homes, hospitals and clinics.
The therapists use a team approach to treat patients of all ages and work closely with the patient's physician, family, and other Outreach providers to develop the moste effective rehabilitation program possible. Family members are especially encouraged to play an active role in the rehabilitation process for their loved one.
Altru Physical Therapy Department has been helping people conquor disabilities caused by accidents, illnesses or chronic conditions. The physical theapists practice in both acute care and rehabilitation settings, meeting the physical therapy needs of adults and children.
Physical therapy is designed to: Restore motion and and decrease pain; correct deformities; increase muscle strength, flexibility and endurance; decrease swelling/inflammation of joints; improve balance, coordination and walking ability and prevent injury.
Through restorative treatment methods and adaptive techniques, the Altru Occupational Therapy Department provides the skills for the job of living to clients of all ages. Those skills include: skills to dres, shop, work, drive, play or cope with a disability. All of those skills are necessary and reflect the variety of our lives. We use restorative treatments, adaptive methods, the environment and assistive technology to reach the patient's goals.
