Meet Our Administrator
Laura Erickson

When asked what she likes best about working with seniors, Laura responded, "One of my favorite things about working with seniors is building relationships with them and hearing their stories.  So much has changed since they were children, and I enjoy hearing about the changes.  They also have so much wisdom from their life experiences and often are willing to share that wisdom with others.  They truly enrich others' lives, and I hope we can do the same for them!"

Growing up in Blue Earth, Minnesota and graduating from Blue Earth Area High School, Laura was the youngest with two older brothers.  Her parents live in southern Minnesota.  She attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa graduating with a B.A. in Writing and Rhetoric and a minor in Music.

Laura started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant when she was 16 at the nursing home across the street from her house. She worked there through high school and college, and then for a brief period of time after college.  She also worked for a year doing housekeeping at an independent senior living apartment facility.

Laura enjoyed spending time with older people, but the medical part of caregiving was not her calling, so she pursued other interests.  She spent time in the business field, but missed working with older people and doing something that she felt was meaningful.  In 2013, July returned to college part time to complete additional classes needed to become a Nursing Home Administrator.  She is excited to be able to combine her interests in business with a passion for working with older adults to help make Oakland Park Communities a great place to live!

One of Laura's favorite activities is playing the piano.  She started taking piano lessons in first grade and was blessed to continue taking lessons through college.  She enjoys playing piano for weddings, special events, and church, as well as for her own enjoyment.  Cooking for friends and family is also something she enjoys, as people are very important to her.  She also likes to try making new recipes.  Other past times include crocheting, watching Downtown Abbey, and rollerblading.
