Meet Our Administrator
Judy Bernat

When asked what she likes best about working with seniors, Judy responded, "For seniors, leaving their homes to come to a skilled nursing facility can be a stressful time.  Knowing that we can support them and make that difficult time and transition into a positive experience is one of my favorite parts of working with seniors.  Caring for them ensures that they do not have to worry about things that they might not be able to do for themselves anymore and allows us to support the things they can do; and that is very rewarding."

Judy also said that in her short time at Oakland Park, "She has been so impressed with the interactions between the residents and the staff.  They have mutual respect for each other, they laugh together, participate in fun activities together and they make a difference in each other's lives - it truly feels like home."

Judy's first job was working as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Society facility in Warren.  After many years working in the dental field, and with her family's support returned to college.  After receiving her degree in Health Care Administration she  returned to long term care as a licensed nursing home administrator.  Prior to coming to Oakland Park, she had been the Administrator in Erskine, MN as well as at the Good Samaritan Society in Warren.

She grew up and attended school and graduated from high school in Newfolden, but has made Fisher, MN her home for over 20 years.  She then attended The University of MN in Crookston for her bachelor's degree and the University of Mary, Bismarck for her Master's in Health Care Administration.

Judy has been married to Rodney for 33 years and they have three adult children.  Their son, Jeremy, lives in Fisher, their daughter, Kari, lives in Elko, NV, and their youngest, Kristi, lives in Thief River Falls.

When not at Oakland Park, Judy enjoys fishing, camping, shopping, baking, watching TV and gardening.
