Oakland Park Communities is committed to providing quality care for your loved one.
As part of our commitment, we provide all managers, nurses and direct care staff with Alzheimer's disease and dementia training within the first 6 months of employment, and then annually thereafter.
Each of these staff members go through the dementia training at the start of employment. Through the training program, staff members are guided through:
- An explanation of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia
- How these diseases affect an individual's ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) and how to better assist individuals with individuals with ADLs
- Suggestions and ideas for problem-solving challenging behaviors, and
- How to understand behaviors as communication
Please feel free to ask our staff members about their dementia training and approaches they have found for helping your loved one!
